In-Class Field Trips for Grade Three Students

This program rocks!

rocks-minerals-1While rotating through 5 different stations, students discover the many varied ways rocks and minerals are used in our everyday life.

Through observation and classification the students are able to recognize differences between sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks.

Hardness and streak tests are also used to help students identify various minerals. Soil, sand, fossils and gemstones round out our fascinating and fun study of rocks and minerals.

NEW!! Students will play interactive ‘guess the rock or mineral’ games, and take part in a screening/sifting activity, where they will get to keep the polished stone which they sift out of their scoop of rocks.
