In-Class Field Trips for Grade Two Students

What people have said about our Bridges: “This is awesome!”

awesome-bridges-1A brief introduction to this program will include a discussion of the uses, function and history of bridges through the years. Students will learn why certain shapes are used for building bridges and identify how these shapes can affect the strength and/or weakness of the structure.

The 4 bridge models are a stone arch, metal truss, concrete girder and cable suspension bridge.

Students will also identify and label the main components of each bridge in order to have a record of their accomplishment.

Using teamwork, each group will construct 4 different styles of bridge. Each bridge offers the opportunity to work with different building materials and fasteners.
